Run for Funds!

It’s not often that you get to RUN in the hallways of your school, but that’s exactly what Denver Christian School students get to do on Friday, October 4th!

Our preschool, elementary, and middle school students will run from the track, through the school hallways, and then out to the playground to join the high schoolers for homecoming festivities.

This is a big deal!  Such a big deal, in fact, that middle school principal Mr. Amidon and elementary principal Mrs. Veenstra have been training hard for the big event!

While the run is FUN, what’s great is that this is the Run for FUNDSfunds that students raise that directly help their fellow classmates and teachers.

They’re running to help families for whom financial assistance makes possible an education here at Denver Christian School.

“The scholarship that our son received has been one of the biggest blessings we’ve received this year. Our son has seen, first hand, God’s provision in his life. You cannot place a monetary value on lessons like that. Denver Christian School has been a huge part of a transformation in our son’s life. He feels wanted, has clear direction for his life and a tribe of friends who encourage one another. We can’t say enough about how much DCS has meant to our family.”

They’re running to provide their teachers with technology tools and training and professional development opportunities.

Our staff members are eager to use these tools and trainings to enhance classroom instruction.

“In the past couple of years I have attended the Orton Gillingham training with four other staff members. What a fantastic opportunity to learn together as a K-2 team! This summer I extended that learning by taking the Advanced Orton Gillingham training. I witnessed the impact of this approach in the development of reading skills in first grade.” — Jana Swalley, Denver Christian School 1st grade teacher

All of these are funded by the Denver Christian School Loyalty Drive, a special fund outside of our regular budget supporting all of these things important to our school and community!

Run for Funds gives students an opportunity to give back to Denver Christian School.

Run for Funds gives students a way to personally contribute to these important opportunities to support their classmates and teachers.

You can support Denver Christian School students who Run for Funds!  How?

  1. Each student’s fundraising goal is $100, and they’re eager for sponsorships by family, friends, and community supporters.  If contacted by a student, you can contribute directly to their fundraising goal!
  2. You can donate online to the Run for Funds.  You can even designate your donation to sponsor a specific runner!
  3. Pray for these students!  This is a tangible opportunity for our students to do something that is benefitting others in our school community, which is part of what living together as a faith community is about.  Please join us in praying that our students find joy in running in support of their classmates and teachers.

We’ll be sure to provide some coverage of the hall-running action, and you can join in the excitement by following us on Facebook and Instagram!
