From Michael’s Desk

Head of School

As we return to campus after a week away, I want to share a brief update on our facilities, specifically the work around the new high school.  As you know, thanks to a very generous $2 million gift, we were able to secure the purchase of the Ludvik electric building adjacent to our campus this time last year. Since then, we have been organizing the right team of industry experts to bring our facilities expansion to fruition, including hiring NV5 as our owner’s representative, HCM as our architects, and JHL as our construction team.

This fall, we have been answering strategic questions with this team, the board, our school leadership, and our advancement office to frame the timeline, scope, and budget around this project. This has included conducting a feasibility study to assess funding mechanisms outside of the use of tuition dollars, beginning preliminary work with the city of Lakewood to understand zoning and permitting requirements, and ensuring that our project will meet the programmatic and enrollment demands of our school.

I am pleased to report that this work is going well. I hope to have more specific information to share with our community by late January as we reach some conclusions around this fall’s work. I am so grateful for the interest and engagement around this as we look to enhance the facilities around the 15-year educational experience we offer and expand our community to include more right-fit families.

Finally, on another note, I wanted to remind you that our Advent Podcast around the six spheres of learning and God’s story begins tomorrow.  Please register here if you want to join in and have access to each new episode starting tomorrow and going through Christmas Eve.
