From Michael’s Desk

Head of School

Thank you all for your amazing support of the beginning of our school year.  We are through many of our “firsts”, are passing through 10,000 feet and heading into our school cruising altitude for the year.  It has been amazing to see the school spirit from our community at so many sporting events this fall so far, and I enjoyed spending the beautiful morning of Donuts and Details followed by our adult worship with many of you this past week. This upcoming week provides fresh opportunities to share in the life of the school.

First, if you have a kindergartener through twelfth grader, we are excited to welcome parents to our All-School Parent Night next Thursday, September 4th, at 6:30 pm.   You will have the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, hear their heart for working with your children, and experience how they curate an environment for learning about specific areas of God’s world in their classroom.

While this event is for parents, you can engage your children around it by allowing them to prepare you for the evening. If you have elementary children, ask them about their favorite activity or area of the classroom. (Then, be sure to notice that in the classroom on Thursday night).  For middle and high school students, have them share their courses and the names of their teachers, along with a highlight of class so far in each. This will allow you to experience Thursday night a bit more through your child’s eyes.

Then Friday, there is a Dad / Son tailgate beginning at 4:00pm before DC football’s 6:00pm kickoff against Dayspring Christian.  We look forward to hosting you next week on campus. But, for now, I hope you are in the middle of enjoying a wonderful family-filled three day weekend.
