This past Tuesday was our first-ever All in For DC Day: A Day of Giving. And this community showed up. A total of 271 people participated, and we raised $240,000 for our annual Loyalty Fund, with family donors from every grade level represented. Of our Giving Day donors, 43% were participating for the first time. I am so grateful to every parent, grandparent, alum, faculty member, and friend who took time to give, share, and pray throughout the day. Thank you for being all in for Denver Christian.
Here is why these gifts matter. Tuition and fees represent a family’s individual commitment to their child’s education. Our Loyalty Fund reflects the community’s commitment to one another, modeled for us by the believers in Acts 2, who shared each other’s burdens across a community of people. Each year, the Loyalty Fund raises $1.8 million to bridge the gap between tuition and fees and the true cost of a Denver Christian education, helping us live out our vision of being accessible to families who want a Christian education for their children. If we added that amount into tuition instead, it would raise tuition by around $1,800 per student. By inviting the whole community to help bridge this gap, we keep tuition lower and share the financial responsibility among parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, and friends.
Gifts to the Loyalty Fund are also tax-deductible. But we wanted everyone to participate however they could, with their giving reflecting Paul’s words, “according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.” We believed All In For DC would be a fun way to promote participation in our Loyalty Fund at any giving level.
And we were encouraged by what we saw. I was so proud of our community’s response, its generosity, and the energy of the day. This community effort, along with so many others, shows how DC takes the mission of forming the next generation of Christian leaders seriously. Every gift will help steward the mission and vision of our school.
