Alumni Spotlight: Collin Quinn

“In coming to Lithuania, I really had to step out in faith. It was one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make, yet the Lord gave me so much peace throughout the process. As I think about my calling and role in building the kingdom, the word courage comes to mind. I hope and pray that I will continue to have the courage to go where God calls me to go, share the Gospel with those He was put in my life, and never put a limit on what the Lord can do.”

Our first alumni highlight is class of 2017 graduate Collin Quinn. Since Collin attended Denver Christian before we moved to our Lakewood campus, he was a student at three different DC campuses! After graduation, Collin studied Business Administration and International Business at Colorado Christian University. After college, Collin took a step of faith and moved internationally after living his whole life in Colorado. Collin now works in Residence Life at LCC International University in Klaipėda, Lithuania.

Collin reflects on how different elements of his experience at Denver Christian School have impacted his career and calling. Cocurriculars might seem like a fun activity at the time, but they can continue to significant influence our lives for many years and in unexpected ways. Collin reflects, “It was during my time at DCS when I really began to realize my gifting and passions and cultivated those with the help of my teachers and DC Staff members.”

Collin discovered a love for music while leading worship at DCS chapels and participating in symphonic band, jazz band, and choir. “Now, being on staff at LCC International University in Lithuania, I have had the wonderful opportunity of teaching others music and leading worship. I do not believe I would have found this joy and passion for music had I not been so involved in these cocurriculars at Denver Christian.”

Studying a foreign language while at DCS also provided an unexpected benefit for Collin now that he is an expat living in Lithuania. “The languages [Spanish and Lithuanian] are nothing alike; however, knowing I was able to overcome the challenges when learning Spanish has given me motivation to keep trying and learning the language here,” he notes.

This year at DCS, we are focusing on what we call “through lines,” which are the many roles that God can lead us to. Collin reflected on how he sees his work and life building the kingdom of God: “In coming to Lithuania, I really had to step out in faith.

Collin points out that regardless of our vocation or preparedness, we have to rely on God’s guidance for our lives: “He calls those who do not feel equipped, promising to equip those who He has called.”

At Denver Christian, we are incredibly thankful for our alumni community and moved to play a role in helping our students grow in their calling and see God’s work in their life. Alumni like Collin remind us that while we might not see the whole story at each step, God is always working in and through us.

While we might not see it in the moment, each piece of our life weaves together into our story.
