Shuttle Bus Transportation Information

Denver Christian provides transportation for families who request it. Our bus routes service numerous communities from Aurora to Castle Rock to Golden. For more information please contact the Transportation Office directly at transportation@denverchristian.org.

Please note:  Keep in mind that bus times are estimates for inclement weather days, and bus times may fluctuate based on traffic and weather conditions those days.  We will notify you about estimated bus times for weather-delayed delays via texts.

FAQs

Each PreK (5 year old) -12 student is charged $125/ month. 

No, each Rider is $125 a month

 

DC families need to register their student to ride the bus and then load $125 on their Facts account.  Each ride is $12.50/child. Once you are registered, our fleet manager will provide you with further instructions regarding the punch card system. 

Monthly.  The $125 bus fee  will be applied to your Facts account each month.  For more information, contact Chris Decker.

Yes, as long as the location is on the same route. 

If you plan to use the bus as your student’s main form of transportation, please register before the start of the school.  You may also join the bus program anytime during the year based on availability.  Contact transportation@denverchristian.org to join or leave the bus program.

A parent is required to be present at pickup and dropoff unless the parent indicates during registration that the student is allowed to walk home or wait at the stop without a parent/guardian.

The bus driver cannot wait for parents to arrive, so it is the parent’s responsibility to make arrangements if he/she is running late. The bus driver can not leave a student(s) to wait for their parents or walk to/from the bus stop unless this is indicated during registration. The bus driver/school’s responsibility ends when the student safely leaves the bus.

No, drivers will leave each pick-up point at the appointed time with the riders who are there on time. If they are a regular rider and not riding the bus in the afternoon then parents need to notify school at transportation@denverchristian.org  and attendance@denverchristian.org

Pre-K to 1st grade students meet at the stairs leading up to the lobby immediately after school ends.  A teacher will walk them to the bus at the end of the school day.

Yes, the family must complete the registration form which includes signing off on the bus waiver and liability before riding the bus.

By signing this Family/Student Handbook, students and parents agree in partnership with DCS, to abide by its provisions, processes and guidelines, and to respect and support all ultimate policies, procedures and decisions of DCS

Bus Stop & Scheduling Policies

  • Stop Requirements: Each bus stop must have a minimum of 3 consistent full-time riders.

  • Stop Locations: All stops will be in open, well-lit, and well-used parking lots — never on a street or in residential neighborhoods. Maps will be made available for all locations.

Expectations for Pick up and Drop Off

  • Morning Pick-Up: Arrive at least 5 minutes early.
  • Late Riders: If you miss the AM pickup, you may either meet the bus at the next scheduled stop or drive your child to school.
  • Afternoon Drop-Off: Drivers will not wait for late PM riders. The bus departs the school at 3:24 PM sharp, and will not stop after pulling away from the curb.
  • Late Pick-Up: Children will be taken to the next stop or returned to school, if no parent or guardian is present.
        

Follow the SAFE acronym at all stops

S: Stay at least 10 feet away from the bus stop.
A: Always wait for the bus to stop completely and the driver to signal it’s safe to board.
F: Face forward once seated.
E: Exit the bus only after it is at a full stop, the driver excuses you and always check for traffic

Parent & Student Responsibilities 

  • Supervision:

    • No student will be left at a stop without a parent present, unless:

      • The Transportation Waiver is submitted when you fill out your student’s registration online.

  • Communication:

    • All changes to your student’s bus schedule MUST be communicated to DCS Attendance 45 minutes prior to the end of the day.

Emergencies:

  • Drivers will not stop for restrooms or non-emergencies.
  • Parents may not call the driver directly; Please contact the school using the information given above.
  • In emergencies, drivers may allow students to use the drivers cell phone if the student does not have one.

  • Delays:

    • Any delay over 15 minutes will trigger a Parent Alert Text.
    • Morning bus delays do not count as tardies, but students must check-in to the office upon arrival.

Billing Information

  • Full-Time Riders: Billed monthly through FACTS. No refunds or prorated days. 
  • Punch Card Users: Receive reminders when the balance is $25 or below. Add funds in $125 increments via your FACTS account.

Emergency Safety Drills
 Emergency safety drills are conducted within the first two weeks of the school year.

    • Understanding the Use of Emergency Exits:
      Students are taught how to properly locate and use emergency exits on the bus.
    • Establishing “Helpers”:
      Older students are designated as “Helpers” to assist younger riders in the event of an emergency.
    • Ongoing Review:
      Bus emergency procedures are reviewed regularly throughout the school year to ensure continued awareness and preparedness.

Bus Safety & Behavior Guidelines

General Rules:

  • No pushing while boarding.
  • Stay seated for the entire ride.
  • Keep aisles clear.
  • Always be kind to others on the bus
  • Do not place hands, feet, or head outside windows.
  • No throwing objects inside or outside the bus.
  • Remain silent at railroad crossings.
  • Remain seated until the bus is at a  full stop and the door opens.
  • No eating on the bus. (Snacks may be eaten at school before PM routes.)
  • All electronics must be on silent or used with headphones.
  • Follow the bus drivers instructions

  • School Bus Behavior policy must be read and signed by parents and students.

Bus Driver Standards

  • DCS has skilled, trained and appropriately licensed school bus drivers
  • Drivers’ first priority is always SAFETY.
  • All drivers will wear a DCS shirt or blue/black polo, a DCS lanyard, and an ID card.

Bus drivers are responsible for managing student behavior and promoting a safe and respectful environment on the bus.
