Denver Christian has spent the past year discerning something important: the right size for this school going forward. Big enough to expand what we offer. Small enough that every student is still seen, known, and loved. We know what that size looks like. What we don’t yet have is the space to reach it.
This fall we are beginning early conversations about funding the facilities that will make this vision possible, including a new high school designed to serve generations of Denver Christian students. Rather than placing the weight of this growth on tuition, we will invite our community to help carry this vision forward through generosity.
This year Denver Christian reached a meaningful milestone: more than 1,000 students now learn and grow on our campus, drawing from more than 120 churches across the Denver area. These are numbers that would have surprised the community that moved to Teller Street just over a decade ago. God has been extraordinarily faithful, and our campus has grown because of it.
With that growth comes both opportunity and responsibility. After a year of careful discernment, our leaders identified approximately 1,400 students as Denver Christian’s right size. That number isn’t out of ambition for its own sake. It’s the size that allows us to strengthen our academic pathways and expand our arts and athletics programs while preserving what has always made Denver Christian distinctive: students known, loved, and walked alongside by multiple adults across their fifteen year experience here. Grow past that number, and we risk losing what families come here for. Stay smaller, and we limit what we can offer our current student body.
A new high school is central to that vision. It would create room for expanded programs, purposefully designed learning environments, and more opportunities for students to discover and develop the gifts God has given them. It would also open space across our existing campus, benefiting students at every grade level, from preschool through graduation.
Bringing this vision to life will require a generational investment. Tuition and our Loyalty Fund sustain Denver Christian’s annual operations: one an individual family’s sacrifice, the other a whole community bringing what it can, in the pattern Scripture shows us of giving according to means. A project of this significance requires a separate, dedicated campaign rather than adding that burden to the tuition families carry each year.
That is the purpose of these early conversations. We are beginning to meet with families and friends who may be positioned to consider a leadership gift and help build the foundation for what comes next.
Denver Christian has always been a partnership between families, churches, and educators, a shared work of discipleship rather than a service purchased and delivered. As we look toward the future, we remain committed to that partnership and to welcoming families who desire a Christ-centered education rooted in shared spiritual formation.
