Ben Buhler hits 1000 career points

Denver Christian Athletics congratulates our senior, Ben Buhler, for hitting his 1000th varsity basketball career point this week!

Ben has been playing basketball for over ten years now. He joined the DC Thunder his freshman year, playing on Junior Varsity. For his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons, he has been playing on our varsity team. In addition, Ben has played with the club team, Colorado Chaos, for the past two years.

At the beginning of his senior season, Ben realized that he could hit the 1000 point mark. He scored 429 points his sophomore year, 272 points last year (with a modified basketball schedule due to COVID-19), and has already scored 301 points during his senior season. Ben hit the 1000 point mark with an exciting 3 point shot on Thursday.

“It was a great feeling to reach 1,000 points.  I couldn’t have done it without the team.  It was a team victory.”

Reflecting on his varsity career, Ben commented on how the community of the team has grown into a group of young men who cheer on each other. He says, “It is a team game at DC.  Before it was just hero ball.” The DC boys Varsity team won the Mile High League this year for the first time since 2013.

Ben is thankful for his coaches and the dedication that they have shown to the DC Athletics program. When asked what advice Ben would give to other players, Ben says, “Enjoy it–it goes by way too fast.”

Congratulations to Ben for his 1000th career point and to DC Thunder for winning the Mile High League! Roll Thunder!
