YOUR ENROLLMENT JOURNEY AT DC

1

Step 1: Campus Tour

One of the best ways to begin discerning whether DC is the right fit for your family is to experience our community in person. During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Explore our campus and learning environments
  • See students and teachers engaged in the school day
  • Connect with members of our Admissions team
  • Ask questions specific to your student and family

Step 2: Application

When you’re ready, apply online. This step helps us learn more about your child as we move through the admissions process. As part of your application, you’ll be asked to provide:

  • Current school report cards
  • Standardized testing (if available)
  • IEP or 504 documentation (if applicable)
  • Teacher referral contacts (submitted through the application)

Once your application is submitted, our team will guide you in completing any remaining items and will keep you informed of the next steps.

A $50 nonrefundable application fee is required at the time of submission.

Step 3: Shadow Student Experience

Your Kindergarten through High School student is invited to spend a day experiencing life at DC. This is a valuable opportunity to see our classrooms in action, connect with other students, and begin to understand what it feels like to be part of our community.

Students are paired with a Denver Christian School host student and attend classes alongside them, giving them a firsthand look at the rhythm of the school day and the relationships that shape our learning environment.

Shadow days are offered from September through the first week of May, and our Admissions team will help coordinate a time that works well for your family.

Step 4: Entrance Testing

As part of the admissions process, we take time to understand each student’s current learning level so we can support them well from the very beginning.

Kindergarten-2nd Grade
Students applying for Kindergarten through 2nd grade will complete a screening with one of our teachers prior to enrollment. Our Admissions team will contact you to schedule this step and walk you through what to expect.

Grades 3-9
Students applying for grades 3-9 are required to complete MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) testing, which helps determine appropriate placement.

If your student has current MAP scores, those may be submitted. If not, your student will complete testing at DC prior to acceptance and enrollment. Testing typically takes up to an hour and a half.

To schedule a testing time, please contact Lisa DeBoer.

Step 5: Family Interview

Once your application is complete, our Admissions Committee will review your student’s application and reach out to schedule a family interview. It gives us the opportunity to get to know your family, learn more about your child, and explore how we can partner together in their growth.

6

Step 6: Acceptance and Enrollment

If all admissions requirements are satisfied and space is available in your student’s grade level, our Admissions Office will notify you of your child’s acceptance to Denver Christian School.

Your final steps to enrollment include:

  • Complete the enrollment packet sent to you by the Admissions Office. This includes:
    • Immunization records
    • A copy of your child’s birth certificate
  • Pay the Enrollment Fee. Enrollment and continuous enrollment fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, and do not apply to tuition.

Families have one week to complete the enrollment packet and submit the enrollment fee to secure their student’s place.

If space is not currently available in your child’s grade, they may be placed in our wait pool. Our team will notify you if a spot becomes available.

A Thoughtful Approach to Partnership and Enrollment

Denver Christian School has been blessed with growing enrollment, and we are committed to maintaining small class sizes, strong student-to-teacher ratios, and a learning environment where each student is known and supported.

As part of this commitment, we take an intentional approach to enrollment — considering both mission alignment and grade-level availability. Our goal is to partner with families who are seeking a Christ-centered education and who desire to grow alongside us in supporting their student’s development.

Important Dates to Keep in Mind

  • October 1: Applications open for the following school year
  • January 15: Current families confirm enrollment intentions
  • February: Wait pool families may begin to receive updates as openings become available
  • February 6: Financial aid and scholarship applications are due

Key Terms to Know

Priority enrollment is given to children of faculty/staff and siblings of current students. Reserved spaces for these students may impact availability within each grade level.

Students who complete the admissions process and are a strong match for DC may be placed in the wait pool if no space is currently available in their grade level. The wait pool is not ranked by date of application, meaning students are not selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, when an opening becomes available, our Admissions Committee prayerfully reviews all students in the wait pool and extends an offer to the student who is the best fit for that specific opening.

Students remain in the wait pool for the current school year, and will be considered for any openings that become available during that enrollment period. If a spot does not become available, families are encouraged to reapply for the following year to confirm continued interest and provide updated documents.

As part of our admissions process, we seek to thoughtfully consider each student and family. In some cases, DC may not be the best fit at this time. When this occurs, our Admissions Office will communicate the next steps with care. While we are happy to clarify our admissions process, we may not be able to discuss specific details due to the confidential nature of admissions decisions.
