Primary Role at DC: Elementary - 3rd Grade
Year started at Denver Christian: 2018
Hometown: Grand Rapids, MI
Jaclyn Sikkema returns to Denver Christian after student teaching here with Mr. Sneller five years ago. She has since worked for the Christian Learning Center and has spent the last few years teaching fifth grade at Grand Rapids Christian Middle School in Michigan. What made you choose to join Denver Christian? I student taught at Denver Christian with Ben Sneller when I was at Calvin College, and I fell in love with the Denver Christian community. You welcomed me and my classmate with open arms! Ever since leaving Denver, I have desired to come back. I'm excited to meet new people and work with the staff, students, and parents. What new classroom programs/ideas do you look forward to bringing to DCS? I am coming from teaching 5th grade at Grand Rapids Christian School, and I was on the faith formation committee for the district. I hope some of the things I learned on this committee will be helpful to Denver Christian when I come. I also look forward to taking my special education experience and implementing instruction based on the varying needs of students in my classroom. What are some of your hobbies or favorite ways to spend time? I enjoy being outdoors, so I'm looking forward to doing some hiking (Michigan hiking is more like walking on small hills), as well as exploring Denver in general. I'm also a very extroverted person, so I enjoy meeting new people, trying new restaurants, and going to community events.
