Colorado Lt. Governor Joe Garcia Hosts Story Time with Denver Christian 1st Graders

Colorado Lieutenant Governor Joe Garcia and a local McDonald’s owner/operator hosted Denver Christian 1st graders at the McDonald’s located at Wadsworth & Jewell in Lakewood the morning of Thursday, February 11. The event promoted the importance of early childhood literacy and celebrated the fact that McDonald’s is putting books in the hands of thousands of Colorado kids through their Happy Meal book program.

Lt. Governor Garcia read two of the four Happy Meal book titles “Paddington Bear” and “Pete the Cat.” The DC children were treated to Happy Meals with milk and cuties oranges and were given all four book titles at the conclusion of the event. The Lt. Governor asked about Denver Christian School and the event provided DC CEO Todd Lanting the opportunity to give him an overview of DC’s new campus and the school in general!
In addition to its dedication to the Happy Meal book program, McDonald’s is a major sponsor of the 2016 One Book 4 Colorado early childhood literacy program kicking off in April!
