DC Kits for Kids

“I want to thank you for all of your efforts with the Kits for Kids drive at Denver Christian. You have an amazing school and your students do an exemplary job of living up to a code and standards that are clearly respected!  I know that you and the staff are very proud of them as well as you should be. I am so appreciative of the kits that the students packed. Thank you for inspiring them and for your guidance. Trust me when I say that I know it wasn’t easy but you made it look so. I have set aside all of your kits so that when they are processed I can keep tabs on them to let you know what country or countries they are delivered. I hope that our paths cross again.” Julie King, Director of Kits for Kids Programs at Project C.U.R.E.

We’re so PROUD of our DC students & their efforts  around Kits for Kids and the quote above made us even prouder!

Kits for Kids is a program through Project C.U.R.E. (a relief program based in Denver) where drawstring backpacks are filled with personal hygiene and basic “medicine cabinet” items that are scarce in the third world. Kits for Kids gives parents the supplies they need to care for their children at home. Each bag has a tag, which allows for tracking as it makes its way across the world and into the hands of a family in need. Denver Christian School students donated all of the items for the kits and delivered 130 kits to Project C.U.R.E. in January.

Inspired by our Kits for Kids project, right before Christmas DC kids put together similar ‘stockings’ and were encouraged to donate the stocking filled with hygiene and ‘medicine cabinet’ items to a less fortunate person they observe in our community. One child was overheard saying “I like that I know exactly where my stocking went and how it’s going to help someone. I’m lucky to be able to help someone out!”

Denver Christian School plans to continue our partnership with Kits for Kids through Project C.U.R.E. and look forward to updating you in the future about this exciting program!
