Mrs. Perkins believes that students learn best when they see an instructor excited and passionate about the subject at hand. One key is to provide meaningful assignments that are appropriate to each student’s learning level and style. Students need the whole of each concept; the rules, formulas and/or the steps to carry out a problem so that they can use strategies taught in other situations. In other words, they need to be taught to think! Students’ know that Mrs. Gunnink believes that any question is a good question. Each student has strengths and weaknesses that need to be acknowledged and accounted for. Mrs. Perkins goal is to find a way to reach each student and, “unlock his or her code”. She focuses on interactive teaching. Mrs. Perkins also enjoys reading, knitting and hiking in God’s beautiful creation.
