2016 Track

The 2016 version of the Denver Christian Track & Field Team will be an exciting one to watch. On the Boys’ side we have Senior Nate Hayes returning.  He led the team last year with a 2nd place performance in the Long Jump at the CHSAA State Meet.  He also jumped to 4th place in the Triple Jump.  Coach Paul Lowe (3rd season) is excited to see all the dedicated athletes.
Veterans Daniel Hidalgo (Throws) and J Jay Lim (Horizontal Jumps & Hurdles) are back and are expected to get a lot of points this season.  Upperclassmen first timer Eli Van Zweden (Distance) looks to keep his momentum going from a great cross country season.  Kyle Capalby (Throws) returns for his Senior year after a two year hiatus.  The rest of the team is young but is expected to have a big splash.  Sophomore Tyler Krautz (Sprints & High Jump), Freshmen Adam Smith (Distance) and Crosby Harris (Distance) round out the team.
On the girls’ side we see a team that had only four members in 2015 explode to 10.  The team is still very inexperienced but have a lot of promise.  Senior Mia Twinam (Distance) is back after taking last season off do to injury.  Coach Lowe talked Mallory Latimer (Throws) into trying out after he saw her work ethic in the weight room this past winter.  She is a great addition to the team with her positive attitude.  Junior Alyssa Ho (Hurdles) will be doing double duty this spring competing in track as well as soccer.
There are a number of young promising sprinters on the team.  Ineke Cordova (Sprints) and Mikaela Capalby (Sprints) are joined by Monika Williams (Sprints) and Emma Akomeah (Sprints) who come from Colorado Academy which does not have a track program.  Courtney Zimmerman (Sprints & Throws) will join the team from Front Range Christian.
Coach Lowe is excited about Freshman Rachel Papineau (Distance) who will focus on the 800, which is the hardest race on the track and his favorite event.

Finally, Sophomore Kayna Davis has high expectations as she will attempt to qualify for the state meet this year in the high jump. You can keep track of the team and their performances with pictures, videos and articles on dctrackandfield.com
